The following is a list of the poems of Kazi Nazrul Islam that I have translated so far. Just an amateurish attempt.
English Rendering from Bangla
[All the rhyming words at the end are based on pronunciation in American English, to the best I have come to know. Rhymes in English rendering would be better appreciated, when it is read as is done in a recitation. There have been some effort to translate Nazrul's work in English, but most of these are not rhymed translation. More importantly, the effort to introduce Nazrul outside Bangla language still remains pitifully inadequate.
It might be redundant to say that my effort to translate Nazrul's poem is not necessarily an improvement. I undertook this effort for my own satisfaction. Readers, especially poets or those with interest and background in poetry, ought to understand that I am not a poet. Nor do I have adequate background in literary English, especially for poetic pursuits. Thus, my attempt to translate the following works of Nazrul is a daring, to some it might be unforgivable, attempt. However, if this inspires more and more capable people to come forward to take up the task, then that in itself would be a contribution.
